I went off radar ... now I want to do her proud

BRITAIN’S Got Talent star Gruffydd Wyn told how he has been through a “very difficult time” following the death of his nain.

The 22-year-old star, who has just made another “big announcement” following his success on the talent show, said he is “working hard” to make her proud after she died suddenly at home last month.

The former theatre assistant at Pontio in Bangor, who lived with his nain Alwena in Amlwch, took a step back following his loss.

But now, in a bid to achieve his dream that his nain pushed him to follow, Gruff has announced details for his very first tour next year.

Beginning in South Wales in March, he will make his way up north to Rhyl on March 22.

He will perform in Mold on the 23rd, before he returns to Pontio for the final date on April 13.

Gruff, who will switch on Holywell’s Christmas lights later this month, said: “It’s been a dream for a while, so to see it finally being achieved means the world to me.

“I am thrilled to be announcing my first ever tour. I’m very exited to get on the road.

“I have been off the radar a little due to the passing of my nain, which has been very difficult, but I am getting there.

“I’m working hard to achieve the success that she always wanted me to have.

“Me and my family are overwhelmed with the support and kindness of people during this difficult time, and we are very grateful.”

While he has hinted that fans can expect some special guests at some of the shows, he said to expect “a lot of new songs”, as well as some old favourites.

Gruff, who won Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year, added: “I’ve recently played at Pontio and it was an incredible feeling to be on the stage of the place where I once worked.

“The reaction I got after that performance to a full house was electric, so if I can do the same thing again, I will be thrilled.

“I’m exited about the whole thing. I’m going to be learning so much while I prepare to hit the road, and the thought of that really excites me.

“And I’m really excited to be playing with a live band and performing at venues that I haven’t been to before.”

Despite not hearing anything from Simon Cowell since being on the show, the singer, who was nominated for a National Reality TV Award in September, revealed he still has plans to release his own album.

“I won’t say too much yet, but there are plans for an album.”
