At a date on or around Armistice day (the time and date to be announced later) a group of young people from Bangor of the same age as those who died in the First world, 1914-1918 will read out the biographie­s of the city’s heroes who gave their lives in the conflict and who are commemorat­ed (most accompanie­d by a photograph), in Cofeb Y Dewrion (Heroes’Memorial) compiled by the Rev W J Owen (Afallon) soon after the war. An appealis going out to relatives of the fallen to view the names compiled in the book on the Bangor cathedral Facebook page and to contact if they would like a biography (of a family member perhaps) read out to all present at this unique event. They and members of the public are then most welcome to attend at a time and date to be announced nearer the time. Welfare reforms come under the spotlight on 9 November in an event which will bring together local authority workers, Department for Work and Pension representa­tives, advisers from the Citizens Advice Bureau, members of the public and academics to discuss Universal Credit: The challenge of welfare reform.
