THE A55 was left completely blocked in one direction following a crash involving a caravan on Friday.

The incident, which happened on the westbound carriageway, saw both lanes blocked following a crash involving a car and a 4x4 towing a caravan.

The crash happened between Llangefni and Gwalchmai in Anglesey.

The caravan was badly damaged in the smash, which happened at around 12.45pm, with debris strewn right across the carriageway.

Police officers and an ambulance were called to the scene, but it is not believed that anybody was badly hurt.

One lane was reopened around 15 minutes after the crash took place, but long queues remained for motorists travelling towards Holyhead.

Traffic Wales wrote on Twitter at around 1.45pm to say that one lane remained closed while the caravan was recovered and debris cleared from the road.
