Boded out of cup on penal­ties

BOD­ED­ERN Ath­letic went out of the Cook­son Cup on penal­ties af­ter a pul­sat­ing home tie against Llanrug United.

The match it­self fin­ished 4-4 af­ter 120 min­utes, Shaun Jenk­ins, Ai­dan Clarke, Steven Whit­taker and an own goal mak­ing up the Boded tally, Carl Grif­fiths, Aaron Hughes, Dy­lan Owen and Luke Phillips re­spond­ing for the vis­i­tors.

Llanrug led 2-0 early on, but Ath­letic ral­lied to be 3-2 up by half time.

It then went to 3-3 be­fore ex­tra time, where United edged in front again, only for Boded to equalise. Spot-kicks ended 4-3 in favour of the vis­i­tors, who also ex­pe­ri­enced joy on An­gle­sey in mid­week, halt­ing Llangefni Town’s sea­son-long 17-match un­beaten run.

Mynydd Llan­de­gai were de­feated 2-0 at Bar­mouth in Welsh Al­liance Di­vi­sion One, Di­vi­sion Two saw Aberffraw earn a com­mend­able 2-2 draw with high-fly­ing Kin­mel Bay, Nathan Moore and Gareth Hughes for the hosts.

Holy­head Town were held 0-0 by Pen­maen­mawr Phoenix, Gaer­wen went down 5-2 at home to Glan Conwy, Dy­lan Wil­liams and Andy Wannop for the losers. A Ja­son Owen strike was not enough to save Pen­traeth from a 3-1 re­verse at Llan­nefydd.

Aml­wch Town crashed 7-1 at Y Felinheli, Rhys Roberts for the vis­i­tors, but Llan­ner­chymedd’s fine form con­tin­ued with a 3-0 ver­dict at Mochdre Sports, Gavin Sharpe, Rob Jones and Mark Jones net­ting.

Nathan Hughes and Leon Buck­land earned Llangefni Town a 2-1 suc­cess over Llan­r­wst United in the Re­serves Di­vi­sion.
