Crunch clash for Holyhead

-

HOLYHEAD Rugby Club will look to continue their eye-catching form in Division Three North when they host secondplace title favourites Shotton in a crunch clash at Bryn-y-Mor this Saturday.

Caergybi made it four straight wins last weekend with a thrilling 45-31 success at Flint.

Next comes a Shotton outfit boasting nine victories in 10 starts and who whipped Holyhead 51-12 on Deeside back in September.

The Holy Islanders will need to hit new heights to claim a fifth win in a row this Saturday, but recent form suggests they are in the mood to do just that.

Star of the show against Flint last weekend was Jack Gibson, who ran in a hat-trick of tries.

Owain Thomas, Aron Parry, Huw Pritchard and Ben Pritchard also crossed the line, while Rhodri Parry landed five conversions.

Holyhead will be pleased to have secured the bonus point win away from home against a tough, physical Flint side. A rare poor defensive display from the visitors allowed Flint to go ahead numerous times in the game, but Holyhead stuck at it to secure the win.

Full credit to Flint, who really took the game to their opponents with strong carries and a real determined effort.

Benllech were beaten 39-0 at home by Pwllheli seconds.
