BEER FLOOD AFTER BREAK-IN

-

Burglars opened all the taps in raid:

HUNDREDS of pounds worth of beer flooded a pub in Holyhead after burglars left all the ale taps running during a break-in.

The incident happened at the Kings Arms Hotel, sometime between 1am and 9am on Saturday morning.

South Africa-born pub landlady Dawn Dreyer has described the incident as ‘disheartening’ but praised the community for rallying around and helping her and the pub’s staff clear the mess.

She says raffle and lottery money was also stolen. Police have taken fingerprints from the pub.

Dawn, originally from Cape Town, said: “Who needs this sort of thing to happen at just at the start of the new year? It’s very disheartening.

“It wasn’t a forced entry. Whoever got in got through the kitchen as it was on the latch.

“Seventy seven gallons of beer ended up on the floor so that you can imagine the mess and the smell when we discovered it on Saturday morning.”

Dawn took over the pub last July and she said things were going really well until now.

“I’ve been bringing the pub back to life and we are getting some lovely people in,” she said.

“As well as the lottery and raffle money a bag of spirits was also taken but that was later found in the cellar.”

The 62-year-old added: “We were back open on Saturday night because as usual the community has helped us.

“I moved to Holyhead as I love the people here, they are wonderful. I’ve had loads of messages of support and people asking if they could help in anyway. “It’s been marvellous.” If you can help the police with any information about this incident please phone 101 quoting the crime incident number X001912.
