Tigers celebrate Gwynedd Cup success
MENAI Bridge Tigers are celebrating again thanks to a 2-1 Gwynedd Cup final win over Bro Goronwy.
The Gwynedd League champions showed their character to come back from a goal down to secure the victory, with Jac Thomas giving Bro an early cushion with a well-taken finish after 17 minutes.
This finally sprang the Tigers into life, and they levelled matters on 29 minutes when Dean Redmond fired in his 38th goal of the campaign following a sustained spell of possession.
After the break saw the Tigers get their noses in front for the first time in the contest on 68 minutes when Owain Roberts made the most of the space afforded to him and hit the target and they held on to the lead.
Glantraeth booked their place in the Safeflue Shield final thanks to a dramatic 6-3 extra-time victory over Llanystumdwy.
Goals from Andy Clarke, Joe Burley and Tim Cavanagh looked to have secured a final berth for the hosts, but a stoppage time leveller from Sion Guto, his second of the afternoon, sent the contest into an additional 30 minutes.
The home side dusted themselves off and completely dominated proceedings in extra-time, with a two-goal salvo from Nick Clarke and a solitary Sion Parry strike enough to see Traeth progress.
