Sisters find strength to make better future
This week we talk to Noemi Vox, who appears in Louche Theatre’s production of Hobson’s Choice at the Morlan Centre, Aberystwyth.
Q Tell us about your family:
A I have amazing, supportive and loving parents, sister and niece Vicky! They’re intelligent, caring and have a great sense of humour.
Q What are you best known for?
A I’m an actress, teacher/ coach (languages, accent neutralisation), voice actress, dancer and currently a civil servant. I enjoy working with art, people, representing other artists, and ensuring our natural resources are looked after well.
Q Tell us about your show
A Hobson’s Choice is a wonderful story of strong characters and of those who need to discover that strength within them in order to grow. It portrays female leads in a
powerful and witty way. Hobson is a widower. Each one of his three daughters has a strong personality, but one of them, Maggie, whom I play, runs the show.
She keeps the shop on its legs, takes care of the family and knows exactly what she wants. With such a combination, you get a great story. Maggie has her eyes set on a better future and getting married and taking her career further is a part of the plan. You can see the show on Friday May 10 at 7.30, Saturday May 11 at 2.30 and 7.30 and Sunday May 12 at 2.30 and 7.30. Q What can audiences expect?
A A great Team of Actors who individually and together make the show come alive, brilliant costumes and a story that will make you smile or giggle at times with its wit, and make you ponder on issues dealing with justice, emancipation and the old times.
Q Tell us five things which make your show great?
A The story, the characters, the direction, the actors, the team behind the scenes.
Q What’s your favourite part of the show
A All of it! I discover daily.new awesome parts Q Tell us about the costumes:
A They are very well put together by our amazing Caroline Clark. I love my shop outfit. It’s all black and there is a lot of layers and lace!
Q What’s the best song from the performance and who’s it by?
A There is a moment when two of our youngest actors sing a hymn at the church. It’s magical.
Q Tell us what’s good about the venue:
A It’s the Morlan in Aberystwyth. It’s easily accessible and provides a neat space for local productions great and small.
Q Who is the director and what’s their style?
A Harry Durnall is a great director who teaches and guides you on your clarity, pronunciation, on understanding the character and gives you hints as to what you can do.
He’s supportive and funny. He’s certain of his vision but
you know you are safe and encouraged to develop your character, to react on stage and to know exactly what you are doing and why. You make your character who they are.
Q What are your best and worst habits?
A My empathy skills are high, they provide great scope for understanding my characters. They can get me to feel overwhelmed with feelings too. I’m a night owl and stay up too late. Q Who’s the biggest celebrity you’ve met? A I loved meeting and getting to learn from and work with the wonderful Dave Fennoy, an actor and voice actor who is talented, well-known yet so down to Earth and fun! He’s very friendly.
Q Once the tour has finished what are your plans?
A More acting! I have a couple of short films in the works. There will be more shows and photo shoots as well. I always update my Instagram profile with the latest news on my creative pursuits.
