Citizens begin latest search for new boss

-

BANGOR City’s search for a new management team has begun after the departure of Gary TaylorFletcher.

The Citizens were dealt a huge blow to their pre-season plans with the news that their manager had left with assistant Alan Moogan also following Taylor-Fletcher out the exit door.

Taylor-Fletcher took the job at Llandudno last week – but resigned two days later due to his involvement with Creation Sports Management, where it is understood he is aiming to become a player agent in the future.

An issue over the club’s budget was also cited as a reason behind the withdrawal.

Taylor-Fletcher said: “Due to unforeseen circumstance, I have today had to withdraw my acceptance of the Llandudno manager’s role.

“I would like to go on record that this is in no way due to anything with Llandudno Football club, it is an oversight that could affect myself, Llandudno and Creation Sports Management.

“I have been working in an advisory role for CSM for a few months, but took on a full time role at the agency from the beginning of April.

“I thought that I could do this and also become manager of a part time club, with no conflict.

“Unfortunately, after speaking with lawyers and contacting the Welsh FA, we have found that there could be conflict in future and I wouldn’t want this for anyone.

“Again my sincere apologies to all at Llandudno FC, Good luck for the season.”

Taylor-Fletcher enjoyed a brief spell at Tudno as a player before making a move to the Citizens’ hot seat, where he oversaw a difficult period at the club due to financial issues and a host of senior departures.

He introduced a number of Academy players into the first team during the second half of the season, but they were unable to catch eventual champions Airbus Broughton and had to be content with fourth spot.

Taylor-Fletcher has long indicated his desire to move into management after a glittering playing career which has seen him turn out for prestigious sides such as Blackpool and Leicester City and score at venues such as Old Trafford.

He worked with manager Kevin Nicholson at Bangor City as a player-assistant and helped them finish second in the JD Welsh Premier League before their demotion to the second tier for off-pitch reasons.

On leaving Bangor City, TaylorFletcher, said: “I just want to say a massive thank you to all at Bangor City and especially club chairman Stephen Vaughan Jr for giving me my first taste of management.

“The club will always be a big part of my journey into football management and I have loved every minute of it. It was a big decision to leave, but after two-and-ahalf years I felt the time was right for a new challenge.”

The club confirmed the search for his replacement has begun, adding they “would be making no further comment” at this stage.

Bangor City’s Nantporth stadium can now host professional boxing events after receiving approval from the sport’s governing body the British Boxing Board of Control, having passed all the necessary criteria.
