Probe into yacht blaze at docks

FOUR fire en­gines fought a boat blaze in Ban­gor dur­ing the early hours of Satur­day morn­ing.

The yacht went on fire shortly be­fore 12.35am in the Porth Pen­rhyn docks area.

Two en­gines from Ban­gor and two from Caernar­fon bat­tled the blaze.

One still re­mained at 8.30am spray­ing foam on the burned boat.

North Wales Po­lice were also at the scene and an area of the dock had been cor­doned off.

A North Wales Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice (NWFRS) spokes­woman said: “We re­ceived a call at 12.32am to a boat on fire in the Porth Pen­rhyn area of Ban­gor.

“We sent four fire en­gines – two from Ban­gor and two from Caernar­fon.

“We still have one pump at the scene that is us­ing foam.”

There is no up­date on dam­age and a fire in­ves­ti­ga­tion is set to de­ter­mine the cause. PIC: DAVID POWELL
