BRITAIN’S Grassland Farmer of the Year is to host a farm walk at his Anglesey holding next month.

Dairy farmer Richard Rogers, the 2018 British Grassland Society champion, and business partner Gethin Roberts, are inviting visitors to Tre Ifan farm, Brynsiencyn, on June 11, from 10.30am.

Around five years ago Tre Ifan, then a sheep and beef farm, was converted to a grassbased spring-block calving dairy unit.

Now home to 350 NZ cross-bred cows, the focus is on maximising grass, with yields from forage of 4,099 litres/cow out of an average yield of 5,349 litres/cow.

Impressive dry matter yields of over 14 tonnes/ ha are being had from the grazing platform.

The walk, sponsored by Yara, Germinal and Nufarm, starts at 11am followed by a light lunch. It is free to attend but booking is needed: email your name and number of attendees to sandra.pattin[email protected]tish grassland. com, or text 07833 437974.
