BAY STRUGGLES GO ON IN LIVERPOOL PREMIER

COLWYN Bay continued their struggles near the bottom of the Premier Division when they were comprehens­ively beaten at home by Ormskirk.

The visitors set a target of 220-7 declared off 54.4 overs, but the Bay were bowled out for 94 of 32.3 overs in reply.

Elsewhere in the division, Bootle extended their run on the top with a home win over Southport and Birkdale.

Captain Chris Firth won the toss for the visitors and elected to bat, but his side could only score 64 in just over 33 overs.

Isaac Lea (10) secured Southport and Birkdale’s first runs with other notable contributi­ons from Bradley Yates (14) and Gary Keedy (14).

William Purser led the bowling stats for the home side with 8 maidens and 4 wickets followed by Scott Butterwort­h with 3 maidens and a single wicket.

There were 2 maidens and 2 wickets for Kieron New and a single maiden and 3 wickets for Jhangir Liaqat who wrapped up the bowling for the league leaders.

Batting for the home side, Daniel Davies increased his tally to 205 runs for the season after scoring 17 against the visitors who are currently hovering above the relegation zone.

In the First Division, Northop Hall were all out for 145 off 56.2 overs against Highfield.

Their opponents posted 146-7 off 36 overs to seal victory.

Prestatyn’s game with Sefton Park was called off.

Elsewhere in the division, Ainsdale’s promotion hopes were boosted by their away win over Birkenhead Park. The home side fell to 79 all out after the visitors had declared on 166-4.
