SIR Bobby Charlton’s idyllic Anglesey holiday home has been snapped up just five days after it first came on the market.

Tyddyn Barcud was put on the market for £585,000 last week, and Beaumaris-based Joan Hopkins Estate Agent said last Tuesday they had received an offer.

Sir Bobby and his wife regularly visited the bolthole overlooking Llanddona beach at

the height of the football legend’s fame in the 1970s.

The former Manchester United star, regarded by many as one of the greatest players of all time, was a member of the 1966 World Cup-winning England team.

He was one of the famed Busby Babes who emerged through the system at Old Trafford as manager Sir Matt Busby set about a long-term plan of rebuilding the club after the Second World War.

Dafydd Rowlands, of Joan Hopkins Estate Agent, said last Tuesday: “The house went on the market last Thursday, and we’ve had an offer this morning for the asking price.

“It will be sold as a second home for a couple from Cheshire.

“Sir Bobby’s name is on the deeds. He bought it as a holiday home in the 1970s.”

The recently modernised and extended four-bedroom cottage is adjacent to the long, sandy beach of Llanddona, which forms one end of the substantial Red Wharf Bay and is part of the Anglesey coastal path. The cottage enjoys uninterrupted beach and sea views from all of its tranquil surroundings.

The bedrooms have all been decorated in a classic coastal cottage style, with white washed walls.
