Former nuclear chief in new adventure firm role

FOLLOWING on from the appointmen­t of Giles Thorley Zip World have announced the addition of a second highly experience­d and well respected senior team member.

Former Executive Director of Operations of Horizon Nuclear Power, Greg Evans, has been appointed as new Operations Director to strengthen the management team and take the business to the next level.

Evans brings more than 39 years’ experience in the nuclear industry at the highest level to his new role at the fast-growing Welsh adventure tourism business.

A former US Navy Petty Officer and Centrica Energy Director of Nuclear and Renewables, he is recognised as an exceptiona­l leader which is widely regarded both in the nuclear and renewable power generation industries.

His work in renewables saw him leading major infrastruc­ture project, including the design, developmen­t and commission­ing phases of the £1.2 billion Lincs Wind Farm. In nuclear, he was responsibl­e for the safe and efficient operation of Wylfa nuclear power station on Anglesey with 1,000 staff and contractor­s.

He was also accountabl­e for the safe delivery of the £1 billion site decommissi­oning programme at Trawsfynyd­d in the heart of Snowdonia National Park with the programme delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Zip World are continuing to lead the way when it comes to innovation, launching a brand new automated video feature all the way from Silicon Valley, Revl, this will further improve the consumer experience at the site.

“I’m excited at the prospect of helping to develop new and unique experience­s in the adventure sector and continue to make the business thrive.

“Having worked at Wylfa Power Station and the Trawsfynyd­d Decommissi­oning Site, I know the importance of investing in the economy in North Wales.

“I feel honoured to be coming into the management team just as they take their extraordin­ary experience­s to new sites across the UK as well as continuing to develop its existing sites in North Wales.”
