A TEENAGE girl was airlifted to hospital after slipping on rocks near Menai Bridge.

The coastguard helicopter was called out last Friday after the youngster slipped on the Menai Strait and suffered an injury.

Despite high winds, the coastguard helicopter was able to winch her to safety and take her to hospital.

A coastguard spokeswoman said: “We had a call at around 3.30pm yesterday that a 16-year-old girl had slipped near Church Island.

“She was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

“It was decided that she should be winched to safety as it was safer to do so due to the location she had fallen.”

The extent of her injuries has not been confirmed.
