Driver jailed for flouting ban

A MOTORIST stopped on the A55 last week was found to have been disqualifi­ed from driving.

It was the fourth time Adam Paul Philip Anslow had been found behind the wheel of a vehicle since a 12-month ban was imposed by magistrate­s at Wrexham last April.

The 34-year-old, of Llys Delyn, Holywell, appeared from custody at Caernarfon Magistrate­s’ Court and was jailed for a total of 36 weeks.

District Judge Jones said: “You massive gamble wasn’t worth it.”

The judge said he had given the sentence a great deal of thought and took everything into account.

“You drove after the disqualifi­cation was imposed and you drove some distance. These offences are aggravated by your previous conviction­s,” he said.

The judge ordered Anslow be banned from driving for a further 30 months and pay a £122 victim surcharge.

Anslow admitted driving whilst disqualifi­ed after being stopped driving a white Renault van on the A55 at Conwy Morfa on August 17. He also admitted having no valid insurance for the vehicle nor an MOT certificat­e.

He admitted driving a black Mitsubishi truck on the A55 at Talybont near Bangor last week while disqualifi­ed and having no valid insurance.

Diane Williams, prosecutin­g, said since Anslow had been banned in April he had appeared before magistrate­s twice on charges of disqualifi­ed driving.
