Amlwch upset in Trophy thriller

There was another shock as Welsh Alliance Division Two knocked out a Division One side as Gaerwen beat Glan Conwy 2-0 at Lon Groes, Andy Wannop and Shaun Monument with the home goals.

Menai Bridge Tigers won 3-2 at Mynydd Llandegai, Callum Davidson (2) and Dave Baston for the Anglesey side, Wyn Morris and Tom Collins scoring for the home side.

Holyhead Hotspur needed extra time to overcome rank outsiders Aberffraw 2-1.

The visitors, who are struggling in the Welsh Alliance Division Two without a point, led 1-0 at half time through Geraint Jones and before Corey Jones levelled for the hosts.

Robert Jones scored the winner in extra time for the Welsh Alliance Division One high-flyers.

The prolific Dean Redmond made it eight goals in as many games for Bodedern Athletic this season with a double in a 3-0 win against Glantraeth with Tom Wood also on target.

Llanfairpw­ll were beaten 5-0 at home by Llandudno Junction as Jack Williams (3) and Liam Jones (2) scored for the visitors.

Gareth Allman put Gwalchmai ahead at Barmouth and Dyffryn, but Ieuan Brooks equalised and it went to extra time before Billy Jones clinched victory for the Gwynedd side with 117th minute winner to make it 2-1.

There was only one game in the Welsh Alliance last weekend and that was in Division Two as Pentraeth were beaten 5-4 at home in another thriller by Llandudno Amateurs.

Jack Walsh (2), Gethin Moore and Aled Jones scored for the Anglesey hosts but Scott Court, Nathan Bridges, Luke O’Mahoney, Aidan Bell and Stephen Penrose sealed the win for the visitors.
