Unbeaten Citizens ready for Tudno

-

BANGOR City extended their unbeaten start to the season with yet another win.

Stephen Vaughan Jr’s side has yet to taste defeat in the 2019/20 domestic campaign and ensured their positive start to the season remained intact by securing a 1-0 triumph away at Llangefni Town on Friday night.

Francesco Serafino put the away side ahead on 13 minutes and a number of glorious opportunities could have led to a more convincing final score.

But the game finished with the odd goal, meaning that the Citizens are now up to fifth in the table.

“I’m very pleased to get the three points and keep the momentum going,” Vaughan Jr told the club’s official website.

“With all the disruption of travel on the A55 and players getting there 15 minutes before kick-off, I thought the lads applied themselves really well.

“I had to change the team just before kickoff which wasn’t ideal and three players turned up 30 mins into the game, but the lads that came in did really well and have put themselves in contention to start the next game.

“Again, though, we’ve missed too many chances and with the amount of possession we’ve had and chances created we have to score more goals.

“It’s another clean sheet and we move onto next week’s game against Llandudno.”

Cefni had a few good chances during the game and played well, but the Citizens can now focus on Saturday’s clash against Llandudno at home before their third-round Nathaniel MG Cup tie against The New Saints on September 24.

Last week, City were held 1-1 by Flint

Town United.

Emmanuel Agyemang Akwa-Dei had a header well taken by Flint Town United goalkeeper John Danby on 42 minutes as he tried to get his side back into it after an Andrew Brown tap-in on 16 minutes gave the visitors the lead.

However, Agyemang Akwa-Dei, who was the first in the book for simulation, kept his nerve in front of goal to slot home and level things up.

The second half saw a whole host of chances for the hosts, with Serafino and Aldair Neto among those with opportunities to force the Citizens into a lead, but it wasn’t to be and the home side finished with 10 men after defender Lucas Surber was dismissed for two bookable offences.
