YFC Chair with echoes of dirt roads

Bangor Mail - - News -

THE Chair winner at this year’s Clwyd young farmers’ Eisteddfod will take their plaudits while cushioned on Patagonian luxury.

To be awarded to the best item of prose of poem, the Chair features a cushion made by Bethesda textile artist Cefyn Burgess.

Its geometric design is based on his Patagoniainfluenced Shadows of the

Prairie artworks.

The cushion is woven in black-and-white wool to reflect the pattern of shadows cast by trees alongside Patagonia’s dirt track roads.

The Chair was sponsored by Denbigh’s Erfyl and Sioned Jones, former members of the Nantglyn club.

It’s now been formally handed over to Gwenno Davies, chair of Clwyd YFC.

Erfyl said it was a privilege. “The YFC is very close to our hearts,” he said.

“Both Sioned and myself have achieved so much by being members – we have had numerous opportunities to compete and learn.”

Clwyd YFC’s Eisteddfod is at Denbigh Town Hall on Saturday, October 26, from 3pm.

Adjudicator is Sian Alwen.
