Striders tackle soggy cross country route at Colwyn Bay

- Running

WITH the club championship getting to the business end of the season, 12 Cybi Striders raced the very muddy and very wet cross-country route at Colwyn Bay.

First up were the Cybi Angels (Women’s Race), first Cybi home was Sara Sawicz scoring maximum points and extending her lead at the top of Division One.

Next in was Angharad Rhisiart, Pat Wilson and Sal Seeny, completing the women’s line-up and all fighting it out for those top 3 positions in Division Two.

Next up it was the men’s turn having an extra lap of the big hill thrown in for fun.

First Cybi home was Chris Thomas, who had obviously decided to have a little play in the mud on the way around (see picture!), Barry Smith was second in, with Darren Seeney, Paul Maitland and Sion Roberts following not far behind.

There was a sprint finish between the last two Cybi striders home, Richard Furniss pinching it right on the line from Nigel Jones.

Further afield, the Holmes family travelled to Amsterdam for the half Marathon, with fine weather for a good day of running.

Nigel finished in 1:41:08 and Diane in 1:57:47, while Julia finished with a course personal best of 1:34:47.

Cybi Striders running club based on Anglesey welcomes all runners, regardless of ability and they meet every
