Aberffraw stun Sports to progress in cup

GIANT-KILLERS Aberffraw led the way in the Mawddach Cup as the Division Two side beat Division One Prestatyn Sports 2-1 at Cae Cynlas.

Geraint Jones and Liam Williams gave the Anglesey side a 2-0 half-time lead with Ian Dunn pulling one back for Sports.

Top-scorer Robert Jones came up with a late winner for Holyhead Hotspur in a 2-1 win over Penrhyndeudraeth.

Deian Parry also struck for the Holy Islanders, Stephen Hughes replying for Penrhyn.

Gaerwen won on penalties at Penmaenmawr Phoenix after a 1-1 draw.

Morgan Roberts scored direct from a corner for Phoenix and Andy Wannop found the target for the Anglesey visitors, who eventually came out on top.

Bodedern Athletic were in terrific form as they swept aside fellow islanders Pentraeth 8-0.

Aidan Clark (4), Ryan Taylor (2) and Dean Redmond (2) were all on target for the home side.

Cefni are just three points away from being back in credit in the Anglesey League following Saturday’s 4-0 home win over Llandegfan.

Recently deducted 18 points for fielding ineligible players, Cefni are now on minus two after their latest victory.

They remain bottom of the table but Llandegfan are just three points ahead of them on one.
