Ta­ble-top­pers Hot­spurs hit five in rout

HOLY­HEAD Hot­spur are still on top of the Welsh Al­liance Divi­sion One af­ter ham­mer­ing bot­tom side Prestatyn Sports 5-1 at the New Sta­dium.

Alex Jones (2), Deian Parry, Asa Thomas and Dean Garmey were all on tar­get for the hosts, who have a per­fect home record of six wins from as many starts.

The home side made a good start and went ahead on 11 min­utes when Jones fin­ished well fol­low­ing a pe­riod of pres­sure, and the same man was on hand to dou­ble their cush­ion with an­other well-taken ef­fort with 33 on the clock.

Sports hit back on 36 min­utes when Kris Owen took ad­van­tage of some rare space to halve the deficit. This joy proved to be short­lived as Spurs’ took a two-goal lead into the break thanks to Parry and af­ter the in­ter­val saw the hosts con­tinue to lay siege to the Sports’ rear-guard, who fi­nally re­lented de­spite some hero­ics early on when pro­lific for­ward Thomas scored and they net­ted for the fifth time on 78 min­utes when an­other out­stand­ing pe­riod of pos­ses­sion pre­sented a chance to Garmey, who despatched the at­tempt to com­plete the scor­ing.

Else­where, Adam Grif­fiths and Rhys Hughes net­ted in the sec­ond half as Pen­rhyn­deu­draeth recorded a 2-0 tri­umph over Mynydd Llan­de­gai.
