‘Number parking up here is growing every day’

-

A STRING of cars parked up beside a North Wales beauty spot has sparked a strong appeal from the community.

The image was captured near the beach at Aberffraw on Anglesey on Tuesday – and angry residents said it had been “very much like this” throughout the day.

Despite the lockdown restrictions currently in place, some people have continued to visit North Wales beauty spots, risking the lives of local people and putting undue stress on local services in the process.

Much to the despair of the village’s residents, they say the rules continue to be flouted with the latest incident resulting in more and more pleas for people to stay home and save lives.

One such plea was made by the local football club who posted an image of the parked cars on its Facebook page.

The post – which purported to be a “message from the community” – read: “The photo of the cars at the beach was taken late afternoon and was very much like this for the duration of the day with people coming and going.

“Do not drive to Aberffraw unless it is absolutely essential. No parking on the common or by the bridges. There are clear signs stating this.

“Do not come here to exercise or walk your dog. We don’t see you when it rains, so don’t use your dog as an excuse for you wanting to make the most of the nice weather.

“Stop being selfish and respect the guidelines and the locals of Aberffraw.”

One Aberffraw resident said: “The numbers breaking lockdown is increasing daily.

“People come when the sun is out and try and use dogs or exercise as an excuse.

“It is clearly an excuse as they don’t come during poor weather. Roads and car parks are closed, but people move signs to park.”

The flouting of lockdown rules has become a cause for concern for residents.

“There are only certain safe walking paths which are narrow. Locals are scared to walk them as the influx of visitors makes it impossible on certain tracks not to pass each other.”
