Man denies fraud linked to crossbow murder case

A MAN has denied fraud charges linked to an investigat­ion into the crossbow murder of Gerald Corrigan.

Richard Wyn Lewis, 49, from Anglesey, appeared via video link at Caernarfon Crown Court on Monday to deny three counts of fraud and another of perverting the course of justice.

Lewis, of Fferm, Llanfair yn Neubwll, near Valley, Anglesey, y, was in court for a plea and trial al preparatio­n hearing.

“pa ra l l e l f r a u d investigat i o n ” launched in

May 2019 following the killing of retired photograph­y lecturer Mr Corrigan, 74.

Mr Corrigan died in hospital three weeks after being shot at his Anglesey cottage in April 2019.

Sports therapist Terence Whall, 39, of Bryngwran, Anglesey, was handed a life sentence for his murder.

Lewis denies he committed fraud on July 24 this year in that he dishonestl­y made a gain by making a false representa­tion that he had the authority of

Aidan Maginn to use a Santander card to purchase goods worth £286 from North Wales Equestrian and Track.

He denies committing the same offences on August 3 to buy goods worth £359 and on September 3 to buy goods worth £483.

Lewis further denies perverting the course of justice on September 4 in that he told Aidan Maginn to tell the pol police he (Le (Lewis) h a d A idan Mag - inn ’s pe r - m i s - sion to use a S an - tander card to purchase goods worth £483. On September 14, Lewis denied six other charges and Siwan Maclean, also of Fferm, Llanfair yn Neubwll, pleaded not guilty to a single offence.

Maclean, who appeared in person at Caernarfon Crown Court on Monday, was accused in September with being concerned in the deposit of £50,046 into a bank on December 6, 2018, knowing or suspecting it was criminal property.

She did enter a plea Monday.

Maclean’s case was adjourned on Monday for a trial at Caernarfon Crown Court on April 12, 2021.

Her bail extended.

Her Honour Judge Nicola Jones adjourned the case to the same court for trial on April 12.

Lewis is already due to attend Caernarfon Crown Court that day for other matters. All charges are expected to be tried there together.
