ZIP WORLD SHUTS SITES UNTIL FEBRUARY
ZIP World has suspended operations until February.
The adventure giant that runs zip lines and other attractions at three sites in Bethesda, Betws y Coed and Blaenau Ffestiniog, made the announcement on Wednesday.
It comes as Wales’s firebreak ended on Monday but England went into lockdown on Thursday – with travel into Wales banned.
A Zip World spokeswoman said: “As the changes continue to come from the Welsh and UK governments to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s disruption to consumer confidence and restricted travel within the UK has made it difficult for businesses to operate as normal.
“In light of this recent uncertainty, Zip World will not reopen in 2020 and has suspended operations until February.”
They added: “The adventure business will switch its focus to its ecommerce and social media channels until 2021 with adventure vouchers now valid for two years.
“Like many tourism businesses, winter – although a quieter time of the year – is synonymous with unique seasonal experiences and events which will be missed this year.
“Zip has had a successful reopening since July with a strong ‘socially distanced’ summer and has made the most of the staycation boom.”
