Bangor testing centre opens
A NEW walk-in coronavirus testing centre has opened in Bangor.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has announced the new facility has begun testing in Dean Street in the city.
It has been opened in a bid to ensure people living nearby who may not be able to drive to another centre can get a test as quickly as possible.
A spokesman for the health board said: “A walk-in testing centre has opened in Bangor to make it easier for people in the area to get an appointment for a Covid-19 test closer to home.
“The testing centre is located on Bangor University’s Dean Street car park and is open 8am-8pm, seven days a week.
“People will need to make an appointment to have a test, at www.gov.wales/apply -coronavirus -covid-19-test or by calling 119.”
Bangor MS Sian Gwenllian welcomed the news saying: “It’s about time.
“The centre should have been opened before Bangor went into a local lockdown period, for example, and especially before the firebreak.”
She added: “If we are serious about tackling this virus, which
has caused so much devastation, it is important that we have a robust and effective testing plan.”
