Second pupil has virus at isle school

-

A POSITIVE coronavirus case has been confirmed at an Anglesey school.

The Covid-19 result is the second one for Ysgol Sefydledig Caergeiliog after a pupil tested positive for the virus last month.

Anglesey Council has said there is no evidence to suggest the virus was transmitted in the school.

Parents and staff were informed on Wednesday, and issued with guidance provided by Public Health Wales.

Ysgol Sefydledig Caergeiliog will remain open, and classes will be unaffected.

NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect has been informed of the confirmed coronavirus cases and relevant pupils and staff have been told to self-isolate for 14 days.

Council officers are urging everyone to remain alert for any symptoms of the virus, including a new or continuous cough, a high temperature, or loss of or change to sense of smell or taste.

Those advised to self-isolate should book a coronavirus test if they develop any of these symptoms, no matter how mild.

Anglesey residents can book a test by phoning 119 or through the online portal before visiting the Coronavirus Testing Centre in Llangefni.

Anglesey’s Chief Executive Annwen Morgan said: “We are continuing to work closely with affected schools and supporting staff during this difficult time.

“Our main concern remains the wellbeing of pupils, staff and wider community.

“We will continue to monitor the situation at Caergeiliog to see whether any further action is needed.”

Information provided to parents and staff have been issued under the instruction of Test Trace and Protect regional hub on behalf of Public Health Wales Health Protection Team.
