‘IT’LL REALLY HELP US OUT’
EX-SERVICEMAN Paul Davies got an extra-special present for his 60th birthday – a £30,000 win with People’s Postcode Lottery!
Paul was one of six Griffithstown neighbours who each scooped a share of £180,000. The news came just a few days after his milestone birthday and it meant the celebrations for the fatherof-four just kept on going.
“Absolutely amazing! That will really help us out,” said Paul, after learning about how much he’d won on a video call with People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Matt Johnson. “I am overjoyed. This really couldn’t have come at a better time.
“I was thinking about cancelling but forgot to do it. Then we get this surprise!”
A delighted Paul plans to spend the prize money doing up his house – although his wife Delia, their children and six grandchildren might have a few ideas of their own too.
“My wife is looking at the measurements of the curtains and the bathroom already,” grinned Paul. “We were thinking about having the bathroom done and some other bits and pieces around the house. We can actually make it happen now.”
As for Delia, she’s already added to the list: “Shoes; a handbag…” And Paul joked: “It’s my birthday so I have my kids and grandchildren coming around, but now I have this they’ll be tapping me up for a few bob no doubt. “My daughter actually won £1,000 a month or so ago. I’ll rub this one in!” One thing not on Paul’s wish list is an exotic holiday in the sun: “I was in the military for a long time and have been all over the world, but there’s always something about coming home. “You go out into the countryside and listen to the birds and the animals,” he said. “I would never live anywhere else.”
