PLANT OF THE WEEK
CALLICARPA BODINIERI ‘IMPERIAL PEARL’ BEAUTIFUL berries will brighten any winter garden and Callicarpa has the most amazing purple ones.
Aptly known as beautyberry, the fruits are particularly striking on the bare branches. But it can sometimes disappoint when it doesn’t produce big clusters of berries.
The best results are often obtained with a group of them to ensure cross-pollination. They prefer moist, well-drained neutral to acidic soil and full or partial sunshine.
