Two Covid cases at Stena Line

-

TWO Stena Line port workers are isolating after testing positive for coronavirus.

The company confirmed that two workers at the Holyhead Port were in quarantine after they tested positive for Covid-19.

No other close contacts were identified so other staff members are not impacted, they said.

A spokesman said: “Two Port Service Operatives (PSOs) at Holyhead Port have tested positive for Covid-19.

“They are self-isolating, being cared for, and are in good health.

“They are on unconnected teams, but have a family connection. No close contacts at the port have been identified by NHS Test and Trace.”

They added: “As part of Stena Line’s safety protocols the PSOs in Holyhead Port have been split into smaller teams that work independently from each other.

“As a precaution testing of PSOs has been undertaken at the port and also by the NHS.

“All results have been confirmed as negative.

“NHS Test and Trace has offered to test everyone at the port and Stena Line is recommending our employees accept this offer.”

Last month, the Stena Horizon’s entire crew had to self isolate after seven positive coronavirus tests.

It saw the remaining 52 crew who had tested negative stay in Holyhead Travelodge, their local homes, or on the ferry as they isolated.
