-

A MACHINE operator from Galway took his own life while working at an Anglesey quarry, an inquest has heard.

Daniel Witowski, 35, was working for Irish slate crushing company Gannon Brothers LTD in Caer Glaw Quarry, Gwalchmai when he was found hanging by one of his co-workers on January 28. The inquest at Caernarfon heard how Mr Witowski’s colleague Michael Hanley received a text from Mr Witowki’s wife who was concerned about his safety. In a statement Mr Hanley said that in a text to his wife Mr Witowski said “Tell Micky my body is in the blue container.”

Assistant Coroner Katie Sutherland ruled his death as a suicide.
