MP’S GALA DINNER RAISES ALMOST £2,000 FOR RIDING FOR THE DISABLED

-

NEARLY £2000 has been raised for Anglesey Riding for the Disabled at a gala dinner organised by Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie.

Around 80 people attended the event in Braids Bistro and Bar at Holyhead Golf Club last Wednesday.

It was supported across the island with people from the farming community, hospitality sector, Stena, IOACC, Orthios, Horizon and National Nuclear Laboratory attending.

Also, at the dinner was DWP minister and former jockey Guy Opperman who told guests some tales from the turf.

Sara Jones-Williams, who has been running Anglesey Riding for the Disabled for over 35 years, spoke passionately about the important work the charity undertakes on Anglesey.

She also talked about 12-yearold Elan and the pony Trinny. Elan is determined to become a Paralympic dressage rider in Los Angeles in 2028.

“Thanks to generous donations - from dinner, bed and breakfast for two at The Valley Hotel, to vouchers for Pips Pet Supplies in Benllech, plus a bottle of whiskey signed by Boris Johnson - the evening raised £1,935 for this brilliant charity,” said Mrs Crosbie.

“It’s wonderful when the local community comes together like this to support such a good cause.

“It was a great meal and a great atmosphere at Braids. I would like to thank everyone for attending, for those who helped me organise it and for the generosity of everyone to reach such a big total.”

Sara added: “I would like to thank everyone for helping to raise such a fantastic sum for us. The money will go to good work making sure disabled people of all ages get the chance to learn how to ride.

“And special thanks must go to Virginia for making this event happen.”
