Special weekend at hotel boosts funds for charities

THE Evans Hotel in Llandudno, working in partnershi­p with KM Travel from Barnsley, held a charity weekend to raise funds for a local Hospice and cancer charity.

More than 90 people attended, travelling from South Yorkshire to enjoy a weekend in the town and an evening of entertainm­ent which included raffles, tombolas, a Dutch auction and a singer performing.

And £2,700 was raised in total with £1,350 going to St David’s Hospice and the other £1,350 going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

St David’s Hospice is a local charity, caring for local people, delivering specialist care to adult patients with life limiting illnesses or those in need of end of life care and their families.

Peter Hibbert, Evans Hotel owner, said: “It was a fantastic weekend that was really well attended and the guests were very generous.

“We’re already booked in for next year and looking forward to welcoming KM Travel and their guests back.

“St David’s Hospice took care of my mum and are a fabulous asset to the community.

“We hope the money donated keeps up that fantastic care for patients and their families.”

James Wilde, Conwy Area Fundraiser said: “We are extremely grateful to The Hibbert family and all at the Evans Hotel for their continued support and raising an astonishin­g £44,428.54 since their fundraisin­g began in 2007.

“Thank you to the two companies for coming together to arrange this trip to not only raise a fantastic sum of money but also to raise the awareness of the care we offer here at St David’s Hospice.”
