THAT SHORE IS PRICEY

£1.7million price tag for former lighthouse keeper’s home

-

A PERIOD property occupying a stunning corner of the Anglesey coast has been placed on the market for an eyewatering £1.7million.

No.2 Lighthouse Cottages at Black Point in Penmon was originally one of two houses used by the operators of the nearby Trwyn Du lighthouse.

The Grade Ii-listed building dates back to 1839 and was likely built by Trinity House engineer James Walker, who also designed the lighthouse over which the property looks.

It was owned for a period by the

Bulkeley Estate before it was sold in the early 1990s. Since then, it has undergone a comprehensive renovation, including a complete upgrade to the interior as well more structural works, offering a luxurious home to anyone who can meet the asking price.

The house, which is constructed primarily of dressed limestone under a slate roof, consists of four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a sitting room, lounge and dining room, study and kitchen.

Outside, there is a walled garden, decked courtyard and a single garage attached to the main house.

But as impressive as the property itself is, the main attraction here is undoubtedly the location and the striking scenery surrounding it.

There are not many properties that come close to No.2 Lighthouse Cottages when it comes to location and that is clearly reflected in the price. #

With breathtaking views of Trwyn Du Lighthouse, Puffin Island, across the Menai Strait to Snowdonia, the house has some of the most dramatic views on offer in Wales.

The property Lighthouse Cottages was added to Rightmove on Thursday.

Based on a 10% deposit and 25-year mortgage, monthly repayments would stand at around £7,098.

Last year, most property sales on Anglesey involved detached properties which sold for on average £315,266. The overall average price on the island was £241,403.

This was up 6% on the previous year and 23% up on 2018 when the average house price was £197,007.
