Carol’s cards have now raised £35k for hospice

MUCH loved by staff, volunteers and supporters, Carol Thorne is well known in the world of St David’s Hospice as ‘The Card Lady’.

Since retiring in 2011, Carol has dedicated her time to making handmade greetings cards with images taken by herself, and then selling them in aid of St David’s Hospice. She has since raised an incredible amount of £35,000.

Over the years, Carol and her husband, have created thousands of cards that have become increasing­ly popular with tourists and locals.

The cards are made by hand using photograph­s of local landscapes, wildlife, and places of interest in and around Llandudno.

Not only does she make the cards by hand, but she also dedicates her time to selling the cards and is often seen at local fairs and car boot sales.

St David’s Hospice Fundraisin­g Manager, Adrian Owen said,

“Everyone at St David’s Hospice would like to sincerely thank Carol for all her hard work and commitment over the years.

“Carol is a wonderful supporter and has dedicated a tremendous amount of time to help raise funds for the Hospice.

“Her loyalty and support has raised a phenomenal £35,000 to help provide respite and end of life care for our local communitie­s.

“We’re excited to work with her again in 2023 and look forward to seeing more of the beautiful cards she creates.”

If you are interested in purchasing Carol’s cards, she is regularly seen at many events throughout the year raising funds for the Hospice.

You can also find her at a stall next to St John’s Church on Mostyn Street, Llandudno on most Thursdays and Saturdays.

There is also a selection of her cards at many of the local shops and hotels that you can purchase.
