Rockingham u13s win cup final

■ Rock u15s take league by a point over Barnsley Woolley ■ But Barnsley beat them in final, despite 5 Wrightson wickets

ROCKINGHAM under 13s Maroon won their eight-a-side cup final over Elsecar by 88 runs.

Ekambir Singh and William King topscored for Rock with two wickets for Elsecar’s Edward Bennett.

Manvir Singh Kang and Noah Shore struck twice for Rockingham, with Joshua Golding top-scoring for Elsecar.

Rockingham under 15s Maroon won at

Wath to clinch first place in their league.

George Jenkinson top-scored for

Wath with two wickets for Rock’s Enzo Campagna and Tilly Thomas.

Jack Tinker top-scored for Rockingham, who finished one point clear of Barnsley Woolley Miners under 15s at the top of the final table.

But Barnsley got their revenge by beating Rockingham in a cup semi-final.

Emma Wrightson took five wickets for Rock and Alfie Gosney top-scored for Barnsley.

Rock were then bowled out for 54 as Zaheer Mirza took three wickets while there were two each for Harveer Batth and Dairen Hirst-Spalding.

Harry Bamforth top-scored for Rockingham.

Barnsley beat Monk Bretton by eight wickets in the league.

Jenson Hayes top-scored for the Monks but Barnsley’s Dairen Hirst-Spalding took three wickets with two each for Freddie Eggington and Finlay ParkerWake.

Hirst-Spalding and James Wilkes then top-scored for Barnsley with Kezia Sykes taking two wickets for Monk Bretton.

Elsecar under 15s beat Worsbrough Bridge by 43 runs.

Ewan Bennett and Toby Crowcroft topscored in Elsecar’s 158. Amelia Wilkinson took two wickets for Worsbrough then Lewis Wilkinson top-scored.

Penistone under 15s beat Darton by 57 runs. Darton’s Lewis Northrop took five for five and George Bedford claimed two wickets as Liam Dickinson top-scored for Penistone.

Bedford top-scored for Darton but Penistone’s Matthew Jacques took three for eight and there were two run-outs for Benjamin Hayes.

Elsecar under 17s beat Rockingham by seven wickets. Henry Skelton took three wickets for Elsecar and William Chapman two before he made 54 not out off 38 balls with three sixes. Lewis Upton top-scored for Rock.

Cawthorne under 17s beat Silkstone United by five wickets. Finlay ParkerWake took two wickets for Silkstone then Luke Heath hit 45 off 32 balls.

Cawthorne’s top-scorer was Ewan Mackie then James Hooper took two wickets.

None of the scheduled under 11s matches took place on Monday amid very high temperatur­es.

The Barnsley Junior Cricket League is due to finish on Monday of next week, with some cup games still to be played.

In the Huddersfie­ld Junior League, Hoylandswa­ine under 13s beat Rastrick by 27 runs.

Toby Ibbotson and George Pearson topscored then Jake Salt took three wickets.
