Pam’s dedication just can’t be battered...

- By Jack Tolson

FISH and chips are the nation’s favourite food – and one Cudworth woman still isn’t sick of them despite being behind the counter for half a century.

Pam Walker, 77, only has to walk across the road to get to the ‘plaice’ she loves and works – Darfield Road Fisheries.

Starting off in 1972 aged 27, Pam managed to find a job that would last her more than 50 years –but she’s not stopping yet.

She told the Chronicle: “I’ve loved absolutely every minute of it and

I’m not going to retire just yet – I’ll be here as long as I’m able.

“I love going to work and that’s why I’m still here.

“One of my favourite memories since I’ve been here is going in the Chronicle when I was 69 – and I love seeing people in the street.”
