Armitage takes six for 17 to keep Wombwell Main in promotion position

JOE ARMITAGE took six for 17 as promotion-chasing Wombwell Main beat Coal Aston 2nd XI in Division Five.

Wombwell made 171 then bowled their visitors out for 114.

Main are second, two points off top and six clear in the promotion places.

They have won 12 of their 16 games and lost three.

Darfield beat South Kirkby by 152 runs to stay second in Division One.

Spencer Lavender made 67 in Darfield’s 228 then Carlton Dickinson took four for 20 and Idris Khan three for six.

Darfield are still in the second promotion place, with a cushion of four points on those below them.

In-form Monk Bretton won by a wicket off the last ball at Treeton in Division Two.

Ashley Clayton took three wickets then hit 67 not out off 55 balls with seven fours as the Monks chased 189 off their 30 overs.

Clayton has the fifth most runs and sixth most wickets in the division this season.

They are still 16 points off safety despite winning their last three games.

Worsbrough Bridge chased 172 for a five-wicket win over Parkhead in

Division Three.

Mark Wilkinson took four wickets and Jabaar Khan three then Alex Litttlewoo­d hit 60 not out.

Bridge have pulled two places and 12 points clear of the relegation zone with four consecutiv­e wins.

Kexborough’s 196 was not enough in a seven-wicket loss to Tickhill.

Richard Burgess made 86.

Richard Stump took eight wickets in leaders Elsecar 2nd XI’s 56-run win over Bradfield.

Stump is the joint highest wicket-taker in the division along with his team-mate Jason Meadows.

Kieran Higgins (56) led Elsecar to 191. They are 24 points clear at the top and 56 clear in the promotion places so two wins from the their final six matches will take them up.

Higham chased 177 for a six-wicket win over Shiregreen 2nd XI to stay in the

Division Four promotion places.

Ben Wood took three wickets for Higham who are 22 points behind the top two but four points clear in the final promotion place.

Silkstone United beat Rockingham 2nd XI by 13 runs.

Chris Barracloug­h took five for 30 to dismiss Rock for 160.

Rock’s Richard Skipworth took five wickets then Stephen Bell hit 67.

Silkstone are one place and ten points clear of the relegation zone.

Cawthorne 2nd XI dismissed Sheffield Collegiate 4th XI for 66 defending 146.

Nicholas Lowe carried his bat with 75 then Spencer Wiles took five for 23.

Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rd XI dismissed Whiston Forge for 91 in a three-wicket win.

Harley chased 166 for a seven-wicket win over Eden Grove Parklands in

Division Seven.

Callum Jones took three wickets then Michael Dearden (74) and Jamie Oliver (52 not out) won it.

Steven Bamforth took four for eight as Higham 2nd XI dismissed Monk Bretton 2nd XI for 92 in a seven-wicket win.

Higham seconds are 48 points clear in the promotion places.

Bamforth is the top wicket-taker in the division this season with 32 at an average of 8.34.

Dearne were skittled for 66 chasing Stocksbrid­ge’s 162 in Division Eight.

Dearne are second-bottom, 18 points adrift of safety.

Second-placed Houghton Main 2nd XI won by 11 runs at Doncaster Town 4th XI defending 121.

Joel Humphries made 60 not out as

Wath 3rd XI chased 123 for a nine-wicket win over Silkstone United 2nd XI.

Kexborough 2nd XI beat Hampole and Skelbrooke by three runs in Division Nine, after posting 146.

Rockingham 4th XI’s 169 was not enough in a three-wicket home loss to Whiston Forge 2nd XI.

Harry Ambler made 51 and Enzo Campagna took four wickets.
