Tedic ‘development loan’ and ‘not starting number 9’

-

BARNSLEY have brought in Manchester City striker Slobodan Tedic on a ‘development loan’ with Michael Duff saying: ‘he’s not coming in to be our starting number nine.’

The 22-year-old, who is six foot three, has joined on loan for the season.

Head coach Duff told the Chronicle: “It’s a chance to build a relationship with Man City. It’s a development loan – he gets to look at English football, we get to look at him.

“Ultimately it’s an opportunity for him, he was brought in for a lot of money. He adds something different to what we’ve got.”

Duff added: “He’s a good player, Man

City generally don’t sign bad players. He’s young and raw. The deal fits both parties.

“He’s not coming in to be our starting number nine.”

Tedic joined the Premier League champions from Cukaricki in 2020 after netting 14 goals in 66 games in the Serbian top flight.

He was loaned out to Dutch club Zwolle and netted three goals in 41 matches across two seasons, including none in 23 last season as they finished bottom of the top flight.

Tedic, who is yet to play for City, has scored twice in 16 games for Serbia under 21s.
