Almost 20 Covid patients in hospital

ONE resident has died within 28 days of a positive Covid test in August.

The number of people in Barnsley that have died since the start of the pandemic due to the virus is now more than 1,100.

The town has the second highest death rate in the country with 468.8 per 100,000 residents.

Meanwhile, the number of patients at Barnsley Hospital with Covid-19 is at its lowest number since last month.

There are currently 19 patients on site with the virus, none of which are on a medical ventilatio­n bed.

Thirty patients have been admitted with Covid-19 in the last seven days, bringing the total to more than 5,200 since the start of the pandemic.
