Speed review

- JOANNE MATHEWSON, address supplied

Barnsley Council rode roughshod over its residents to get the Penny Pie Park gyratory built in order to ‘speed traffic flow’.

Well, as a resident in the area, it has certainly done that. Day and night cars are speeding along Pogmoor Road in both directions, entering the gyratory at speed and then round it as fast as possible.

There’s already been one car crash through a fence and should a driver lose control whilst heading towards Pogmoor or town centre, they are pointed right at the play area.

Trying to cross Pogmoor Road to get to the Premier store, you take your life in your own hands.

Anyone who is not quick on their feet is at risk.

I urge the council to undertake a review of the speed of vehicles at all times of the day/night to witness this themselves before someone is seriously injured or killed.
