Charity cash raised in memory of Jeff

THANKS have been expressed to members of the community after they came together in honour of a popular Athersley man.

The charity football match – held to remember Jeff Hooson who died unexpectedly aged 54 in May – raised almost £4,000 for the British Heart Foundation last weekend.

Emily Hooson, his daughter, said: “I’m happy to announce that we have raised £3,822.52 so far.

“We’ve got three more fundraising events to do to raise more money before September – the last one will be a friendly with my dad’s friends and work colleagues from Athersley on August 28.”
