Stoute smashes 134 in big win to keep Darfield in promotion position

KASTUN Stoute smashed 134 off 109 balls as Darfield closed in on promotion from

Division One with a 212-run victory at Wakefield Thornes.

Darfield are four points off top and 24 clear in the second of two promotion places, meaning two wins from the last four would take them to the Championsh­ip.

Stoute hit 19 fours and four sixes and is the top-scorer in the division.

Will Scott (51) and Riecko Parker-Cole, with 52 off 30 balls, led Darfield to 349, then Idris Khan took four wickets.

Penistone won at Monk Bretton, who remain 14 points from safety in the

Division Two relegation zone.

The Monks were 95 for nine but an unbeaten last-wicket stand took them to 162. Chris Walmsley took three wickets for Penistone who won with four down and seven overs left.

Worsbrough Bridge chased 170 for a three-wicket win at Sprotbroug­h 2nd XI in Division Three.

Bridge are eighth, 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

Mark Wilkinson took three for 12 off 13 overs then Alex Littlewood made 59.

Kexborough were skittled for 89 chasing 173 against leaders Elsecar 2nd XI who have secured promotion.

Kieran Higgins carried his bat with 66 not out for Elsecar then Shaun Pedler took four wickets.

Higham won by 258 runs at Whiston Forge in Division Four.

Glen Burden (80), Lliam Dickinson (73) and Richard Heeley (58) led Higham to 316 then Ben Wood took five wickets and Robert McInerney four.

Higham are in the third promotion place, ten points off the top two and 16 clear of the teams below.

Silkstone United won by 18 runs at Sheffield Collegiate 4th XI.

Will Clegg took three wickets to bowl the hosts out for 146.

Cawthorne 2nd XI’s Jonathan Bennett took five for 13 to dismiss Maltby for 95 in a four-wicket win.

Rockingham 2nd XI chased 144 for a six-wicket win over Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rd XI, for whom Joshua Hadfield hit 57 not out.

Division Five leaders Wombwell Town won by 69 runs at Rotherham Town 2nd XI.

Henry Skelton took five wickets and Tom Goldsby-West four to bowl the hosts out for 181.

Darfield 2nd XI chased 167 for a five-wicket win over Norton Oakes with 13-year-old Alfie Spurr making 59 not out.

Barnsley Woolley Miners 4th XI beat Sprotbroug­h 3rd XI by 38 runs in

Division Six. Jake Chapman (67) and Adrianna Darlow (58) led them to 190.

Harry Airstone smashed 138 as Green Moor 2nd XI won by 64 runs at Wickersley 3rd XI. Airstone hit 21 fours and a six off his 104 balls, sharing an opening stand of 201 with Joseph White (71). They lost all ten wickets for 37 runs but restricted Wickersley to 174.

Harley were bowled out for 157 in an eight-wicket loss at Brookhouse in Division Seven.

Sam Lowery and Peter Dearden both made 51 but they lost their last eight wickets for 20 runs.

Monk Bretton 2nd XI won by 85 runs at Eden Grove Parklands who were bowled out for 88. Jenson Hayes (78 not out) and Julian White (55) led the Monks to 173 then Colin Deakin took five wickets and Ged McInerney four.

Dearne chased 197 for a six-wicket win at Worsbrough Bridge 2nd XI in

Division Eight.

Robert Houghton took four wickets then Luke Copley (58) and Nick Petty (73) secured the win. Robert Stubbings made 59 for Worsbrough.

Houghton Main 2nd XI chased 114 for a nine-wicket win over Rockingham 3rd XI. Julian Harris made 70 for Rock and Adam Cutmore 60 for Houghton.

Wath 3rd XI bowled out Doncaster Town 4th XI for 120 in a five-wicket win. Aiden Hinchcliff­e took five wickets.

Wombwell Main 2nd XI bowled Adwick-Le-Street out for 165 defending 228 in Division Nine. Jack Smith made 93 and Matthew Shaw 77 not out then Billy Smith took five wickets.

Kexborough 2nd XI chased 162 for a six-wicket win at Sheffield United 3rd XI.

Openers Ethan Shillito (51) and Prasath Selvarajah (59) helped secure the win in the 19th over.
