Smith stars in West Bretton semi-final win

WEST Bretton reached the DysonSkidm­ore Trophy final with a seven-wicket win over Kippax.

Luke Smith carried his bat with 77 not out off 52 balls, including 12 fours and a six, as Bretton chased 161.

The previous day, they won by a wicket chasing 202 at Nostell St Oswald in

Division One.

Anthony Scully and John Ashton took three wickets then Ashton (70) and Tom Clifford (63) helped Bretton to 150 for one.

They lost regular wickets but snuck home with five balls left.

Darton’s 192 was not enough in a five-wicket loss at Hundhill Hall.

Joe Wilkinson took three wickets.

Notton skittled hosts Rossington Main for 68 in a six-wicket Division Three win.

Alex Hughes took five wickets and Mike Pretorius three.

Stainborou­gh fell 85 runs short chasing 277 at home to Crofton Phoenix.

Their lead at the top has now been cut to a point and they are 17 clear of thirdplace­d Crofton with two to go up.

Joseph Gott made 101 but West Bretton 2nd XI’s 192 was not enough in a five-wicket loss at home to Oulton in Division Four.

Ryhill and Havercroft lost by seven wickets at Pledwick 2nd XI in Division Six, having posted 180.

Darton 2nd XI defended 218 by bowling Hundhill Hall 2nd XI out for 150.

Owen Birkett made 51 then James Lowe took five wickets.
