In-form Penistone get another two victories

-

PENISTONE Church made it four successive wins with two victories this week in the NCEL Premier.

They beat Golcar United 1-0 on Saturday.

Kieran Ryan got the winner in the 59th minute in front of 305 fans.

They then won 2-1 at Hemsworth MW on Tuesday.

Reece High and Nathan Keightley got the goals before the hosts replied.

Manager Stephen Lenthall said: “It was an excellent win.

“The lads were superb.

“The astroturf pitch took a bit of getting used to in the first half and Hemsworth caused us some threats.

“We probably deserved to lead at halftime then we managed the game really well in the second half.

“They got a bit of luck with a deflected goal but we held on for a massive win.”

Church now visit Brighouse Town in the FA Cup tomorrow.

Worsbrough Bridge lost 4-1 at home to Brigg Town in Division One on Wednesday.

Michael Jepps replied in the 90th minute after a difficult night for the hosts.

Bridge are now due to host Nostell MW on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Athersley Rec have lost all four of their league matches so far this season.

They went down 2-0 at Nostell MW on Saturday, with both goals midway through the second half.
