Strong sun blamed for allotment fires

FIREFIGHTERS from Dearne station were called to Cudworth on Saturday afternoon.

Upon arrival on Belle Green Lane, at 1.41pm, they found several allotment sheds and trees on fire.

It’s believed the blaze started when the sun’s rays were intensified by a glass panel in a shed door.

They left the scene at 4.50pm.
