Harriet’s grand designs will help raise hospice cash

- By Lucy James

STUDENT Harriet Friend has teamed up with Barnsley Hospice to give old clothes a fashionable new twist.

Harriet, 20, from Pogmoor, is working alongside the charity’s retail hub to give back to her local community by reworking clothing donations.

Harriet, who studies fashion atelier at university, has always had a love for textiles.

She said: “I rework items of clothing that may be stained, or not in demand due to current trends, meaning the retail hub can create as much income as possible from each donation.”

The hospice was an easy choice of charity for Harriet to support as her family have a lot of involvement with them, with her mum being a nurse there, and several other family members volunteering across different areas of the organisation.

“I am so proud to have donated my time to create the collection for the hospice.

“It’s such a special place that means a lot to me and my family, so I am delighted to be able to give back.”
