Lane closure on M1 MP and former teacher congratulates pupils

-

A LANE will be closed on the M1 on Monday causing minor delays for road users.

From 8pm on Monday to 6am the following day there will be slight delays on the M1 northbound, junction 38. A lane will be closed for technology works.

BARNSLEY East MP Stephanie Peacock has congratulated young people who have recently received A Level or GCSE results – some of which were the town’s best-ever.

This is the first full academic year students have had in school following the pandemic and settings such as Barnsley College, Horizon, Kirk Balk, Penistone Grammar and Netherwood excelled.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to anyone who has received either A Level or GCSE results recently,” Stephanie said.

“It has been an incredibly difficult few years for students and young people. This year’s results show a clear divide between results in the north and the south – Yorkshire and the Humber saw 22.4 per cent pupils receiving GCSE grades seven and above, whereas 32.6 per cent in London received the top grades. This divide is significant and I call on the government to address this as a matter of urgency. I am proud of all that Barnsley students have achieved.”
