Dearne arts’ festival date is set

-

THE annual Dearne Community Arts’ Festival returns later this month.

The festival, which is now a regular feature in the Goldthorpe calendar, will take place at Astrea Academy Dearne between 11am and 4pm on September 24.

There will be exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops and performances on stage, and Mayor of Barnsley Coun

Sarah Tattersall will officially open the event.

Julie Turner, the event’s secretary, told the Chronicle: “The arts’ festival is always a great – and free – day out for all the family. No matter what you’re interested in, we will have it here. You can buy handmade Christmas presents from the craft stalls, see what local groups do throughout the year and get to know what happens at school, as pupils will have their work on show as well. The workshops give you the opportunity to have a go at things for yourself, and we’re particularly excited to be hosting poppy-making from plastic bottles again for Remembrance Sunday and a ‘Love Where You Live’ workshop based on making postcards from photographs of the local area.”
