Warning is issued

POLICE are warning residents in Barnsley to lock their doors as reports of theft rise in the area.

As the weather is warmer, more people are leaving their windows and doors open to let fresh air in.

Thieves only need a minute for them to be in and out of your home with your possessions.

Police advise residents to close their windows, lock their doors, secure their sheds, lock tools and expensive equipment away, and install an alarm system.

They also warn people to not spread information about going on holiday on social media; thieves will see this as an invite to an empty home.
